South India is the area containing the Indian state of Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka, Kerala and Tamil Nadu and the union territories of Lakshadweep and Pondicherry, occupying 19.31% of the surface. South India is situated on a peninsula of the Deccan Plateau and is characterized by the Arabian Sea, Indian Ocean and limited the Bay of Bengal to the west, south and east, respectively. The geography of the region is diverse and includes two mountain ranges - the Western Ghats and Eastern Ghats and a plateau heart.Rivers Godavari, Krishna and Tungabhadra Kaveri are important sources of water annually.
